故事的主要角色是兩對雙包胎兄弟，一對是主人，一對是僕人。這對主人的父親依濟安年輕時帶著妻小及小僕人搭船返鄉的途中遇上了海難，後來雖然分別獲救，卻從此斷絕音訊。依濟安帶著兩個老二生活，兩個老二在十八歲時出門尋找失散的親人，一去不回，依濟安等了兩年都沒消息，他也出門旅行找尋家人。……
