本書係作者八年來所出版的第四本哲理散文，目的在為安頓人生而著。全書分為八章，每章五節，共得四十篇生活隨筆，每篇次第闡述現代人生活中最切身的生命課題。作者從小接受儒學的思想教化，中年為還願皈依佛教，但始終嚮往道家的人生境界。在本書中，作者借用佛教和儒學的一些「話頭」，用以開展道家式常識之見，並以清晰流暢的文字，化中國哲學智慧於簡單易行的生活實踐。願讀者讀完本書後反身而誠，回頭認真解讀自己生命這本大書，讓人生變得更清明寬廣。
漢化蒙古裔，祖籍江西省九江市，1953年生於臺北巿。
輔仁大學哲學系學士、碩士、博士；國立政治大學企業管理研究所結業。
現任銘傳大學通識教育中心、教育研究所合聘教授兼社會科學院院長。
著 作：
《心靈會客室》、《醫護生死學》、《醫學倫理學》、《教育哲學》、《生命教育概論》、《觀生死》、《觀生活》、《教育學是什麼》、《殯葬倫理學》、《殯葬與生死》等。
