《海滨故人》是庐隐的小说代表作，鲜明地反映了她的创作风格。作者从多方面对社会人生问题进行了反映和探索。在这部小说里，她真实而强烈地呼喊出青年、尤其是青年女性在那令人窒息的社会里难以排遣的苦闷与悲哀，热切地希望了解人生的意义，激烈地表达青年们拼力冲破几千年传统思想束缚，要求自我发展、个性自由的民主主义倾向。
庐隐（1898-1934）， 原名黄淑仪，又名黄英，生于福建闽侯。1921年加入文学研究会。1925年出版第一本小说集《海滨故人》。她的作品多以青年人的爱情婚姻为题材，以女知识青年为主人公，写她们对爱情的追求。
