陳布雷日記每日以敘事性方式記載整日的工作情況，時間、地點、人物相當明確，內容包括處理公務、會客、出訪、談話等，簡要翔實。從政日記部分，開始於1935年3月1日，終止於1948年11月15日逝世前夕，前後十三年又八個月餘。 身為蔣中正最重要的文膽、在大陸時期最倚重的幕僚，蔣中正對他的信任，難有人能相比。除了代擬文稿、參與會議外，陳布雷日常與蔣中正接觸頻繁，也常奉指示，徵詢黨政相關人士對重要決策的意見。讀此日記，不只可以瞭解陳布雷之行事風格，且對蔣中正研究有極大的幫助。

陳布雷（1890-1948），浙江慈溪人，原名訓恩，字彥及，筆名布雷、畏壘。早年為記者，之後從政，歷任國民政府軍事委員會侍從室第二處主任、國防最高委員會副秘書長、中國國民黨中央政治委員會秘書長等職。
