草書之法不外省筆、聯筆以求速、順，以其筆畫之聯、省，致有取代繁複筆之簡符，由歷代名家引領沿襲應用，歷久而成草規、草訣，習者有以為據，而讀者有以辨之。
惟草書之教習，多以熟記帖例書體為務，而帖例草法百家爭異，記之匪易，用之亦常不知所從，此知草法之然，不知草法之所以然故也。
如習草者以理解草符之為用，取代強臨草帖之書體，則習草當更饒趣味且更能快速領悟草書之筆法及韻氣，乃得自運風格而不失章法。
本書羅列並闡釋解析450個漢字部首及繁筆字構之代表字例，總結210個共用符號及單用慣襲符號之於書體上應用之常規，盼對習草者有所啟發和幫助。

本名張志弘，1947年生。
一個純粹、無師承、非科班出身的台灣自由派書、畫、攝影玩家。
軍中四年，職場十五年，商場廿年。

2009年退休後致力於平板觸控技術應用於草書教學研究；
2013年起開始於FB網路上建置粉絲專頁分享「釋廬習草」迄今。
2015年起投入「為愛而演」公益巡演活動行列，掌紀錄片錄影及影片剪輯製作；已完成發表於 YouTube 之紀錄片94部。
