本書作者是一位酷愛大自然及謳歌創造主的文字工作者，也是編輯人、出版人及傳播工作者。
他的散文為多處華文地區採用為教科書，計有台北［國立編譯館］、香港［教育署］及新加坡［牛津大學出版社］等分別選作中國語文教材。
文藝評論家季薇評殷穎的散文［一清如水］，並謂陶淵明在［歸去來辭序］中［質性自然，非矯厲所得］句，堪為其文章注腳。殷穎為文筆觸簡潔空靈，多為謳歌自然之作，他對田園生活的嚮往，在作品中隨處可見。
