2017年，51歲的王柳雲隻身前往位於福建省屏南縣雙溪古鎮的免費畫樓學習油畫。之後的幾年，她輾轉於地處浙江省沿海的家、深圳市大芬油畫村、河南省柘城縣的官莊村等地，學畫、打工、遊歷，還曾在鄉村學校當美術老師。2020年，王柳雲開始“北漂”，白天在寫字樓裏做保潔員，夜裏在自己的一方天地裏畫畫、寫作。許多媒體都曾對她的故事進行敘述和闡釋。本書是王柳雲的自傳作品，她走出媒體的敘事，以親歷者的視角講述自己從51歲開始的新生活，既有在山水間的詩意漫遊，也有對底層女性群像的真實刻畫。此外，本書還收錄了王柳雲的41幅油畫作品。
王柳雲，祖籍湖南，畫家，作家，著有《青芥人生》《月光不迷路》。
