胡适
生平经历：1891 年出生于上海，早年留学美国，获哥伦比亚大学哲学博士学位。回国后，任北京大学教授，积极参与新文化运动，是新文化运动的倡导者之一。曾担任过驻美大使、北京大学校长等职务。1963 年在台湾病逝。
学术成就：在文学、哲学、史学等领域都有很高的造诣。他提倡白话文运动，发表《文学改良刍议》，推动了中国现代文学的发展；在学术研究方面，运用西方学术方法研究中国传统文化，著有《中国哲学史大纲》《白话文学史》等，对中国现代学术的发展产生了重要影响。
