主角‧亞列克在學院以第一名畢業，受國王所託成為宮廷魔法師，希望他能夠默默支援王太子，於是他只能使用輔助魔法。然而此舉卻遭到王太子嫌棄，認為他在隊伍當中毫無貢獻，於是宣布「我的隊伍不需要一個只會使用輔助魔法的廢物。你已經被開除了。」。正當亞列克心灰意冷時，碰巧遇上過去的同伴‧悠爾哈，對方極力勸他重新加入，延續當年的傳說。
