張廷玉(1672-1755)，字衡臣，號硯齋，安徽桐城人。他歷經康雍乾三朝，二十九歲被康熙選為庶吉士三十二歲授翰林院檢討，隨後便平步青雲，成了康熙的近臣。張廷玉真正發跡是在雍正一朝。立志改革的雍正，使他在官場上如魚得水。雍正性猜忌，但獨獨相信張廷玉。乾隆登基後，張廷玉就逐漸從榮譽的最高峰上滑落。但他是清代漢臣獲配享太廟的第一人，並開清代文臣封侯伯之先例。
