作者寫此書時剛從閃米密西湖畔搬到一個幽靈湖的湖畔，由於每夜在幽靈湖瞑想靜坐，打開了前世的記憶，因而書名就以湖而得名叫《幽靈湖之夜》，寫的內容是天上界的事。 由於真佛宗是由作者所創，為了使所有弟子及讀者有明確的依歸才寫的。「真佛密法」雖然是良好的方法，但沒有明確的淵源及傳承，一般世俗人在修習的過程中，容易起疑動念，如此就不會有功德及成就，修落了空。所以在《幽靈湖之夜》一書中，就把作者蓮生活佛的「法身」、「真身」、「真我」完全不保留的直截了當的說個詳盡，洩露天機，目的是為了對眾生的利益更大。 所以本書是作者打開心閘的鎖，把「前世本生」的故事全寫了出來。作者認為《幽靈湖之夜》，應該是宿命「水落石出」的時候了。他將一世又一世的記載了下來。
