讀史的最終結果是能從中有所感悟、有所體會，將歷史與自己的思想融為一體，才能真正的讀懂歷史。讀史有一定的學問，不要被某些歷史結論和歷史現象蒙蔽，重新審視這些歷史現象；要改變歷史的某些傳統的說法，對其有清醒的認識；要善於根據自己的經驗和當時的歷史背景，從中總結出相應的規律，得出一定的結論；還要從自己的日常生活經驗中走出來，在更高的層次上看待歷史；要學會把讀到的歷史知識、智慧與自己的現實生活結合起來，能夠充分的運用。如果能夠做到這些，雖不能說真正讀懂歷史了，也應算是會“感悟歷史”了。
