　　本書為作者近期核能發電叢書之第二本。繼「核能工程技術導論」(2009年3月，財團法人核能科技協進會出版)對核能基本技術做一介紹之後，本書再對核子工程原理與相關理論進行引介與探討。其內容為“核能發電工程學”(1997年，水牛出版社出版) 之精華版，應為核工系大學生或研究生必讀及核電工程師值得參考之教材。

該書在核能基本原理、電廠系統設計與輻射防護方面均有細膩的介紹是其特點。
