西安事變，又稱“雙十二事變”。為了勸諫蔣介石改變“攘外必先安內”的既定國策，停止內戰，一致抗日。張學良和楊虎城在西安華清池發動兵變，扣留了時任國民政府軍事委員會委員長和西北剿匪總司令的蔣中正，時稱“西安兵諫”。在中共中央和周恩來同志的主導下，最終以蔣介石接受“停止剿共、一同抗日”的主張而獲釋，迫使國民政府放棄“攘外必先安內”基本國策，抗日統一戰線形式上建立。
