「邊際革命」提倡用數學方法來分析經濟問題。本書指出這套數學方法不完整，因而導出很多似是而非、矛盾、且錯誤的理論。如以為提升生產力可以多賺錢（似是而非）；又如以為邊際成本是最好的訂價方式，因而用它來管制獨佔，結果獨佔商剝削得更嚴重（錯誤）；或如支持懶惰的人應獲得較高工資； 或如主張減少人口來促進經濟成長；再如以為懲罰可以減少罪案或污（錯誤）等。 本書指出這錯誤理論的根源，然後消滅各種邊際概念，並提出正確的後續及補救之道。
