华语拼音以q、v、w、x四个专用字母标声调，与其他拼音方案相比，具有输入方便(能用通用键盘直接输入所有字母)、音节简短、排序准确、查询快捷、音界明确(不需要隔音符号)、拼式科学的优势。

包括专用标调字母在内不超出英语26个字母的范围，既符合现行注音、拼音方案的使用习惯，又能与国际音标相符，全面接近其他国际流行语言的常规字音拼写规范，易学易记，能由电脑自动正确排序。由其他拼音的单音节最多6个音母减少到4个；由其他拼音的单音节平均3.23个音母降至2.77个，是汉语中目前唯一符合国际音标规则的方案。既可用于汉语字音和声调的标注，又可与国际语言文字完全接轨。

华语拼音的排序为(有区别的汉语拼音音头字母附在括号内)：A、B、C、Ch(Q)、Cr(Ch)、D、E、F、G、H、I(Y)、J、K、L、M、N、O、P、R、S、Sh(X)、Sr(Sh)、T、U(W)、Y(Yu)、Z、Zr(Zh)。
