词，始于汉，萌芽于唐、五代，盛于宋。宋词标志着宋代文学的*成就，也是中国古代文学皇冠上光辉夺目的明珠。由晚清四大词人之一的朱孝臧编选的《宋词三百首》，是诸多选本中影响极大、迄今极为通行的宋词选本。本书以上彊村民的选本为底本，共收宋代词人八十八家，词三百首。
上彊村民(1857--1931)，本名朱孝臧，清代词人，字古微，工诗词，通格律，着有《强村语业》等书。又曾编刻《强村丛书》二百六十卷，汇集唐、五代、宋、金、元人词总集五种，宋词别集一百十五种，馀为唐及金、元词别集。
