學習目標：具有使用英語進行一般生活會話溝通、基本寫作、文章閱讀的能力，相當於高中畢業程度。

現代人的生活離不開各種3C 產品，這個月的【生活情境對話】除了圖解常見的電子產品外，還設計了兩段對話，包括修手機和談論無線耳機的優缺點。而【追本溯源】單元「手機的發展史：從黑金剛到潮品」則簡單介紹了手機的發展史，從用重量超過一公斤的電話撥出的第一通通訊到現今的智慧型手機，一瞧將近五十年間手機的演變。

英文中有許多跟科技或機器相關的片語，以下介紹幾個：rocket science 字面指「火箭科學」，用來比喻「艱深的學問；難理解的高科技」，生活中則常用否定句It’s not rocket science! 來表示「這又不是什麼高科技！；這不難理解！」，例如有人若說他不會用咖啡機泡咖啡，就可以說：You put the coffee in the machine and add water. It’s not rocket science! （你把咖啡放進機器裡加水就好啦。這又不是什麼高科技！）

電器接電的插頭英文叫做plug，這個字還可作動詞用，例如「插上（某電器的）插頭」就是plug (sth) in，「拔掉插頭」則是unplug 或pull the plug，而pull the plug還可指「停止、中斷（某事）」，尤其是指「停止資助」，後面常接on sth，例如：The government pulled the plug on the project due to budget concerns.（政府因為預算考量而停止那項計畫。）

最後介紹blow a fuse，這個片語字面意思是「燒斷保險絲」，原是指電器過熱時的一種保護措施，不過這個說法常用在人身上，表示某人「勃然大怒、大發雷霆」，彷彿氣到腦子過熱燒壞了，例如：The woman blew a fuse when she got cut off by another car.（那位女子在被別台車超車後勃然大怒。）注意blow 的三態是不規則變化blow–blew–blown 喔！
