佐藤春夫，詩人、小說家。早期除了風格清麗的詩歌及憂鬱氣質的小說以外，也寫散文、評論等。詩歌中最有名的一首是失戀後寫下的「秋刀魚之歌」。之後為了療癒心傷，在朋友建議下至台灣旅遊（當時台灣為日本的殖民地）。回國後將旅行途中所見所聞、收集的鄉土資料等撰寫為散文或小說，與從前文風大為迥異、非常受歡迎。也為當時的台灣留下不少記錄。
